Android installation guide
To install an APK (Android Package) file on an Android device, follow these main procedures:
Download or Obtain the APK File
Acquire the APK from a trusted source, either by downloading directly on the device or transferring from another device or computer.
Enable APK Installation Permissions
On Android 8.0 (Oreo) and above:
Go to Settings > Apps > Special access > Install unknown apps.
Choose the app you’ll use to install (e.g., Chrome, a file manager) and enable Allow from this source.
On older Android versions:
Go to Settings > Security.
Enable Unknown sources to allow installation of apps from outside the Play Store.
Copy/Locate the APK File on the Device
If transferred from a computer, connect the Android device via USB, choose Media device (MTP), and copy the APK to the device’s internal storage or SD card.
Install the APK
Open a file manager app and navigate to where the APK is saved (commonly the Download folder).
Tap the APK file.
When prompted, confirm installation and follow any on-screen instructions.
Grant Final Permissions (if prompted)
Grant permissions if a security prompt appears, then proceed with the installation.
Once finished, tap Done or Open.
